Travel information about Poland

The Republic of Poland is a member of European Union. Citizens of EU / EEA / EFTA countries don’t need a visa to travel to Poland and they can enter Poland provided that their passport or national identity card is valid at least for the period of their stay in Poland.

Guidelines of Duty Free Allowances

Duty free allowances from EU

If you are travelling from another EU country, you are allowed to bring to Poland:

  • up to 10 litres of spirits (vodka etc)
  • up to 20 litres of fortified wine (sherry, port etc)
  • up to 90 litres of wine (of which, a maximum of 60 litres of sparkling wine)
  • up to 110 litres of beer
  • up to 800 cigarettes
  • up to 400 cigarillos (cigars weighting less than 3g each)
  • up to 200 cigars

Duty free allowances from non-EU

If you are travelling from non-EU countries (including the Canary Islands, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar), you can bring with you goods free of VAT and excise duties for personal use within the limits:

  • 1 litre of spirits over 22% vol
  • 2 litres of fortified or sparkling wine
  • 4 litres of wine
  • 16 litres of beer

Tobacco products

If you travel by air or sea, you may bring these amounts of tobacco products:

  • 200 cigarettes OR
  • 100 cigarillos OR
  • 10 cigars OR
  • 250g tobacco

If you travel by land, you may bring these amounts of tobacco products:

  • 40 cigarettes
  • 20 cigarillos
  • 10 cigars
  • 50g of tobacco

Other Goods

If you travel by air or sea you may bring good of value up to €430 per traveller.
If you travel by land, you may bring goods of value up to €300 per traveller.

You may bring with you medicinal products with relief form import duties, but only the quantity required to meet travelers’ personal needs.

If you are bringing more than €10 000 you need to declare it.

Meat, Dairy and other animal products

There are no general restrictions on carrying any of these products if you are travelling within the EU or from Andorra, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino or Switzerland.

If you are arriving from non-EU countries, you cannot bring with you any meat, milk or their products. You are, however, allowed to bring in powdered infant milk, infant food and foods required for medical reasons under certain conditions. You may also bring in limited quantities, for personal consumption, of other animal products including fishery products, snails and honey. Travellers arriving from Croatia, the Faeroe Islands, Greenland and Iceland may bring small quantities of meat and dairy products for personal consumption.

Travelling with animals

When travelling from another EU country pets accompanying travellers (only dogs, cats and ferrets) must:

  • be identified by a clearly readable tattoo or electronic identification system (ISO Pet microchip)
  • be vaccinated against rabies
  • have a health certificate (or pet passport for animals from San Marino, Switzerland, Norway and Liechtenstein)

If travelling from non-EU country pets have to meet above requirements and they must undergo a test to determine the effectiveness of rabies vaccines.The test must be carried out in one of the approved laboratories on a sample that was taken at least 30 days after vaccination and three months before being moved.
